Codewrights was founded in 2026 by Naveed Kakal to give specialized businesses and industrial teams software that fits how they work, instead of asking them to bend around a platform built for a larger market.

Codewrights is founder-led and based in the Chicago area. Every engagement is led by its founder. Current clients are in the Chicago area, and the practice works remotely with clients across the United States.

Founder and principal engineer

Naveed has 20 years of experience across industrial automation, intraplant logistics and software integration: plant operations and process control, machine communications and telemetry, and the business software that runs alongside them. Most of that time has gone into helping industrial plants work through their daily problems and their ideas for growth.

His applied AI work includes diagnostics that turn symptoms, photos and equipment documents into likely causes, routing of incoming emails and texts into specific workflows, and tools that capture team knowledge and answer questions inside existing chat apps. Before moving into software in 2006, he spent nine years managing a car wash tunnel.

  2. Work with the engineer directly

    Clients work directly with Naveed Kakal, who advises, designs and builds. Work happens over email, scheduled calls and shared written plans.

  3. Choose the depth of engagement

    An expert opinion, design alongside your team, or delivery of a working solution. Advice can be the whole engagement.

  4. Scope in writing before building

    Each engagement is scoped and priced individually. Delivery starts with the smallest release that changes a working day, and every workflow has a written definition of done.

  5. Keep it running

    After launch, Codewrights hosts, monitors, backs up and updates the software it builds, within the agreed engagement.
